Make It a Lifetime JobSpoken column, 70th Anniversary, NUFFIC, The Hague, 30 November 2022
When I was a student, I learned some lessons. I am passing them on:
Enjoy life and friends. But: study!
Two: Choose subjects and courses which feed your curiosity.
Three: Follow courses given by the best teachers, who inspire you. Also, when they are difficult!
Four: Look beyond your bubble Look across national frontiers
Five: Learn to understand people with different background, different cultures and traditions. Listen to them!
Six: Ask questions. Question the answers which you get and don’t give up
Seven Read books, not Internet
Eight: Go abroad. Follow more than one study Visit more than one school.
Nine: Doubt your own wisdom
Ten: After your studies, don’t choose a job to earn money or to get a career. Follow a professional path which makes you happy.
Finally: Continue studying. Make it a lifetime job.
